Description of Gabion Stone Cages

Gabion Boxes are made of high corrosion resistance, high strength, ductility of low carbon steel wire or coated PVC steel wire using mechanical weaving, the use of the net made of the box structure is gabion cage. According to ASTM and EN standards, the diameter of the mild steel wire used varies according to the engineering design requirements. Generally between 2.0-4.0mm, the tensile strength of the stone cage mesh wire is not less than 38kg/m2, the weight of the metal coating is generally higher than 245g/m2, and the diameter of the edge line of the stone cage mesh is generally greater than the diameter of the network cable. The length of the double-wire twisted part shall not be less than 50mm to ensure that the metal coating and PVC coating of the twisted part of the steel wire are not damaged. ‌

Intruduction of Gabion Stone Cages

1. Materials: hot dipped galvanized wire or PVC coated galvanized wire, Galfan coated wire ( Zinc 95% + 5% Aluminum).

2. Zinc coating : 225-275g/m2.

3. Tensile strength between 380N/mm2 -- 500N/mm2.

4. Elongation≥ 12%.

5.Wire Diameter:2.4-3.5mm

6.Mesh Size: 50x70mm, 50x100mm, 80x100mm or according to customers’ requirements.

7.Box Size:0.5x0.5x1m, 1x1x1m, 1x1x2m, 1x1x3m, 1x1x4m, 2x1x0.5m, 4x1x0.5m.

Welded gabion box is manufactured from cold steel wire with high tensile strength. It is electrically welded together then hot dipped galvanized or PVC coated, ensuring a longer life. There are galvanized welded gabions and PVC welded gabions. Welded Gabion box is designed on the principle of mass earth retaining wall. The strength of the wire mesh helps to stand the forces generated by the retained soil.
